Of course Katie Holmes wore fashion’s favorite flats. She’s Katie Holmes!
Miu Miu’s ballet flats are a beloved staple for fashion editors. The satin pairs seen at the brand’s autumn-winter 2022 show swiftly attained cult status (they were named among the hottest products in the world last year by fashion search engine Lyst), and British Vogue’s contributing beauty editor Tish Weinstock loves hers so much she wore them on her wedding day. The buckled styles from spring-summer 2016, meanwhile, are a familiar sight at Vogue House.
The shoes have found a new fan in Glamour, who wore a black pair to the Theater World Awards in New York on June 5 with a diaphanous maxi skirt and a blazer. Versions of the shoe with gingham or black ribbon ankle ties appeared on the runway, but Holmes chose a plain patent pair without the ribbon adornment.
For Katie Holmes, It’s Always Been About the Work
She’s got stellar personal style, an admirable ability to parent thoughtfully and privately, and a seemingly permanent spot on the paparazzi’s must-capture list. But behind it all, Katie Holmes is—and always has been—a passionate and successful actor and director.
This isn’t Holmes’s first time in the brand’s signature flats. Back in 2008, when she was rocking a pixie haircut, she wore a shimmering red pair with baggy jeans, a raspberry-hue V-neck sweater and Chloé’s Paraty bag—a very aughts look. Testament to their enduring appeal, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Holmes wearing those red Mary Janes this summer.
