The figure-skimming, floral lace white gown Florence Pugh wore to the Elle Style Awards in London had me humming “Here comes the bride….” Though it would take a pretty daring bride to walk down the aisle in a dress quite that sheer, to be fair.
The textured lace fabric of Pugh’s Alexander McQueen gown is both stunning and mostly see-through—as are many of Pugh’s most iconic red-carpet looks. The open-back halter dress hugs the actor’s figure until the skirt opens up at the knees and swells into a short train. For a bit of contrast, Pugh styled the über-feminine gown with an electric blue manicure and a spiky, Karen-adjacent pixie hairstyle. A few choice Tiffany & Co. jewels completed the ensemble.
Florence Pugh is no stranger to the sheer dress, having donned transparent styles that range from the cheekily revealing to the nearly naked. At this point, Pugh and Rita Ora are running neck and neck in the see-through fashion department. “Her style is nonconformist, like her personality,” Pugh’s stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray once told . “She unapologetically likes what she likes and is not afraid to take risks.” And after she caught a lot of undeserved flack for wearing a nipple-baring pink Valentino frock, Pugh wrote on her own Instagram, “It has always been my mission in this industry to say ‘fuck it and fuck that’ whenever anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion of what’s hot or sexually attractive.”
