Model and mom Gigi Hadid can now add “creative director” to her bio, as she gets ready to launch Guest in Residence, her line of cashmere items meant to…help you live your life. Sure!
Hadid teased the project on Instagram on Tuesday, September 6—one day before it launches—writing, “We are Guest(s) in Residence of the clothes we own; they have had a life before us, and hopefully, if we take care of them, a life after us.. We are guests in residence of our physical bodies, of the homes we live in, and of this planet.. A ‘Guest in Residence,’ to me, is also someone who is at home in themselves—I thought about my favorite kinds of people…the ones that make an effort to show up at any door, land in any country, sit down at any table, with a sense of comfort, and a wonder for the people in front of them and the world around them. 🌻 With all this in mind, we have created pieces for you to take on life with—from the most vivid adventures, to the most quiet moments.. Launching 9am EST – TOMORROW @guestinresidence 100% CASHMERE 💛.”

What delicious word salad. I have so many questions! Like, what life did a new piece of clothing have “before”? Does the whole guest-in-your-physical-body sound a little…Scientology-ish to anyone else? How does a sweater help a person feel at home in any country? I don’t know, but I’m so excited to find out!
So far, the GiR website is just a landing page with an option to subscribe to an email list, but we expect a product line and price points to drop any moment now.
From the brand’s Instagram, it looks like a line of colorful cardigans:

A caption reads, “A symbol of elegance and refined comfort, cashmere has long been viewed as a luxury, unattainable for some. Our Creative Director @gigihadid wanted to shift this model using both her world-class fashion experience, and quirky sense of style, to create a fresh offering with more approachable pricing, hoping to invite a wider audience into the world of luxury knitwear.”
Aha. So it’s nice cashmere for the masses. It’s all coming together.
Hadid’s personal style may be quirky–her interior decorating certainly is–and if you want to get goofy with a brightly hued button-down sweater, then you do you, Gigi Hadid!
Listen, at least it’s not another fkingfking skin care line.
