Rachel McAdams been hitting all the red carpets lately (well, not that one). But two in the past week counts for something.
The actor is currently promoting her latest film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and on Wednesday, May 4, she attended the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 Tom Cruise film.
Her appearance at the red carpet in San Diego was a surprise given she’s not in the film, but it was nonetheless a welcome one. McAdams wore a black dress with ruching at the hip and a long, asymmetrical hem, but the highlight of the dress is the exaggerated shoulder pads. The sleek silhouette gave the LBD a modern feel, but with all the impact of the incredible looks from the 1988 classic Working Girl.
McAdams kept her red-carpet look simple with strappy heeled sandals and silver jewelry.
The premiere took place on a retired aircraft carrier, the USS Midway, and included a surprise entrance from Tom Cruise via helicopter. The windy weather (and probably the helicopter) had McAdams’s hair whipping in her face, but her loose updo still held strong. We assume she has about 100 bobby pins to thank for that.
Rachel McAdams and her style team had a busy week with various press events and the premiere of the Doctor Strange sequel, which hits theaters on May 6.
On May 2, McAdams showed up and out in a sunny, caped rhinestone-adorned yellow dress from the Elie Saab haute couture spring 2022 collection. Not all heroes wear capes, but she certainly does.
