Indie music darling Maggie Rogers graced the stage at the 2023 Glamour Women of the Year Awards with a performance of her song “Want Want” and graced the red carpet in a sparkling mesh dress that takes the sheer trend to the next level.
With buttons along both sides, the construction is more a work of art than a garment, made almost entirely of glittering thread with fringe along the bottom. Rogers’s matching backward scarf gives the look an Old Hollywood flair, and she kept her hoop earrings thin and her makeup minimal, giving her an almost-head-to-toe golden glow.
In fitting with the theme of the night—female empowerment—Rogers chose to Free the Nipple, opting for nude underwear on bottom and nothing on top (she did something similar at this year’s Met Gala). Does it remind anyone else of a certain iconic Rihanna style? Basically, if Rogers is the sun, then this is the moon:
And Maggie Rogers wasn’t the only woman to add a dash of sheer to her ensemble for the night. Honoree America Ferrera, one of this year’s two Global Women of the Year, opted for a Little Black Dress with a sheer panel in the front. Can we make thighs-forward dressing the next big trend? It would help so many people! (Can’t get enough of the red-carpet fashions? See every look from Women of the Year here.)
