Kim Kardashian and her shapewear and loungewear brand Skims received the first-ever Innovator Award, presented by Amazon, at the CFDA awards on Monday, November 7. To accept the award alongside her cofounders, Kardashian attended the event in extremely body-conscious fashion—with a black latex strapless evening dress.
Kardashian has long been a fan of latex. She once twinned with her sister Kourtney Kardashian-Barker by wearing a turtleneck top and pants made from the material. Not too long ago, she wore a bra and tight-fitting pants in the fabric for a Skims Miami event. It was a beachy interpretation of the tech-minded fabric.
It’s exciting to see Kardashian offer up an evening-appropriate version of latex, keeping things more light and airy by incorporating a semisheer skirt into the ensemble. On the red carpet she posed with her sister Khloé, who also wore a body-conscious sheer evening gown, though hers had one sleeve and a cutout at the ribs.
Kudos to Kim Kardashian for masterfully executing an unconventional black-tie look—even on a record unseasonably warm day in New York. Her commitment remains unmatched.
