France fast-fashion giant cancels billion-dollar Bangladesh factories

PARIS, March 15 (Reuters) – French fashion retailer KIABI, owned by fashion group Mulliez, has cancelled billion-dollar investment plans in Bangladesh, citing cost and lead time concerns, the group’s chief financial officer said on Tuesday..

The decision, which the company said followed a strategic review, means the group will not open garment factories in Bangladesh, as initially planned, and will instead turn to other Asian countries to help with its expansion..
